About Peter Stott
During his twenty-five year career in climate science, he has helped find the tell-tale fingerprints of human influence on climate and played leading roles in the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
. He wrestled with reams of complex data in the search for the tell-tale patterns of climate change, has been confronted by climate deniers set on delaying action on climate and met some of the people badly affected by climate-related weather disasters.
In 2016, he took part in a popular science writing at one of the
Arvon Foundation’s
houses tutored by Aarathi Prasad and Michael Brooks. That unforgettable week encouraged Peter to write a book about his experiences as a climate scientist, both conducting his research and in defending his science against attack. The result was
Hot Air: The Inside Story of the Battle Against Climate Change,
published by Atlantic Books.
