Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Registration at 7:45 AM) Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM CEUs: 12 Contact Hours, 1.2 CEU’s OT and PT spinal cord leaders share the latest evidence on continuum of SCI -- from acute care to community reintegration. Strengthen your: Role on SCI multidisciplinary teams and collaboration with other professionals. Mobility skills strategies for all levels --from vent to assistive technology -- through hands-on interventions practice. Examination strategies and use of specialized assessments. Education provided to patients -- pain management, resources and community re-entry. Join us for a hands-on overview of management and rehabilitation strategies for adults with spinal cord injury. Through an interdisciplinary focus, you will gain advanced knowledge and practical skills essential for effective patient care across the continuum of SCI, from acute care to community reintegration for individuals with complete and incomplete spinal cord injuries at all levels. This interactive course employs a combination of lectures, case studies, hands-on labs, and interactive discussions, including perspectives from individuals living with spinal cord injury. Participants will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge through case examples, and discussions with individuals living with a spinal cord injury, to enhance their clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. Pre-work (suggested): Participants should have a foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and rehabilitation principles. It is suggested to view two videos prior to attending the in-person portion of this course. Links to AIS and Bowel and Bladder video presentations will be sent one week before the course. LEARNING OBJECTIVES SCI Pathophysiology: Explore the anatomical and physiological changes associated with different levels and types of SCI, medical management of spinal cord injury and connection between neuroanatomy and prognosis. Assessment Techniques : Integrate specialized assessment methods to evaluate impairments, functional limitations, and participation restrictions in individuals with SCI. Rehabilitation Interventions: Select evidence-based interventions that are restorative and compensatory to optimize mobility and functional independence. Assistive Devices and Technology : Explore the latest advancements in assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and technology to facilitate independence and improve quality of life for SCI patients. Psychosocial Considerations: Synthesize the psychosocial impact of SCI on patients and their families and learn strategies to support emotional well-being and community re-integration. I nterdisciplinary Collaboration: Emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork in SCI management, fostering communication & collaboration among healthcare professionals. WHO SHOULD ATTEND : Physical therapists / assistants and occupational therapists / assistants working or interested in working with adults spinal cord injury across various healthcare settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community-based practices. Re-quests received less than 3 days (72 hours) prior to the course start will result in a non-refundable administration processing fee of $50.00 or 50% of registration cost (whichever is less). No shows or cancellations within 24 hours of the course start will be ineligible for a refund. Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation will reimburse you the cost of the registration, if we have to cancel a course due to low enrollment, weather, or an emergency situation. We are not responsible for any other costs associated with attending a conference. If you are on the waiting list of a course and do not get in, we will not charge your credit card; if you paid by check we will send the check back to you. In the event that a course is rescheduled we will provide you the option of applying the tuition towards the rescheduled course in lieu of a full refund.
