They are mentors, volunteers, and innovators who strive to protect and represent the interests of seniors, victims of violence, children, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations. They are the glue that keeps a community together. TFA CAMP ARCHITECTURE gives curious kids an opportunity to dive into an architectural topic of interest and test out their own creative design ideas. Each week explores a different theme through hands-on creativity, guided investigations of architectural examples, and interactive presentations and discussions led by our highly qualified Educators and special guests (professional working architects, engineers, and interior designers). AGES: For students entering grades 3-6 (ages 8-11) TIMES: Each week-long camp is Monday through Friday 9:00-4:00. CAMP ARCHITECTURE Tuition Not Yet Members: $350 Members: $262.50 (25% discount) TFA CAMP ARCHITECTURE - SPACES OF WONDER: Interior Design for Fictional Worlds June 2 - 6 This NEW TFA summer camp invites kids entering grades 3-6 to unleash their creativity by designing imaginative spaces for their favorite fictional characters! Whether it's a cozy hobbit hole, a futuristic spaceship, or a superhero lair, campers will explore the art of interior design while learning about color, layout, and storytelling through space. With hands-on activities, sketching, and model-making, kids will transform their favorite fictional worlds into interactive, personalized environments. Perfect for young designers and fans of all things creative! TFA CAMP ARCHITECTURE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Where will TFA Architecture Camp take place? TFA Architecture Camp will take place at TFA’s Center for Architecture and Design at 633 S. Boston Ave in downtown Tulsa. Because TFA is located withing a short walking distance to some of Tulsa’s most notable architecture, camp curriculum will include walking field trips to view the interiors and exteriors of notable Tulsa buildings. Campers will be accompanied by a minimum of two adults while walking downtown. What is your enrollment limit? Because we are committed to maintaining camp sizes that offer individualized instruction and allow students plenty of time to work, camps are limited to 15 enrollees per week with two adults. If your child is interested in attending architecture camp, we suggest registering sooner rather than later because we expect camps slots to fill up fast. Do you offer scholarships? We do have a limited number of need based scholarships for students who attend Tulsa Public Schools. Please email us at amber@tulsaarchitecture.com to apply. What grades do your camps serve? This year, our camps are exclusively for students entering grades 3-6. Do you offer a discount for TFA Members? Yes! TFA members receive a 25% discount on camp tuition. Do you offer before and after care? Unfortunately, TFA is not equipped to offer before and after care for Summer 2025 camps. Are lunches and snacks provided? We ask that students bring a non-perishable sack lunch each day that does not contain peanuts or peanut products. Afternoon snacks such as individually packaged goldfish crackers and veggie straws, etc. will be provided by TFA each day. *You will be able to indicate allergies and other dietary needs as part of camp enrollment paperwork. What should my child wear to camp? We recommend that campers wear cool and comfortable clothes that can get a little messy. Campers will be spending time indoors in an air-conditioned environment as well as outdoor exploring downtown Tulsa architecture. Students will also be using a variety of materials to construct their projects. We recommend that students wear sunscreen daily so they are protected when outdoors. Is there anything my child needs to bring to camp each day? We ask that your child bring a peanut free sack lunch and a refillable water bottle to camp each day. If your child does not like goldfish crackers or veggie straws, you may also pack a peanut free snack of your child’s preference. How will pick up/drop off work? Caregivers should plan to arrive 10 minutes early each day to sign campers in. All children should be walked inside the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture Center for Architecture and Design (633 S. Boston Ave) to be signed in by their caregivers. Pick up will occur each day inside the Center for Architecture and Design. Anyone picking up a child will be asked to verify their identity by showing their state-issued ID or driver’s license the first time they pick up. Can someone besides me pick my child up from camp? You may indicate who you would like to pick your child up when completing camp paperwork. Anyone picking up a child will be required to verify their identity by showing a state-issued ID or driver’s license the first time they pick up. What if my child needs to take medication during the day? Please bring your child’s medication in a plastic bag, labeled with your child’s first and last name. Medication will be stored in a locked cabinet and TFA staff will administer medication per your instructions. Please note that TFA does not have a nurse onsite to administer medication. Do you offer refunds? Refunds are only offered if TFA has to cancel camp due to unforeseen circumstances. Exchanges may be possible if there is a camp the following week with open enrollment. The nineteenth century was a time of rapid growth and development for the game of “base ball,” and Boston Red Stocking players George Wright and Albert Spalding were right in the thick of it. These two young men, the first superstars of the professional game, won the hearts of a country in search of a unifying spirit after a devastating civil war. Join us as author Jeffrey Orens breathes fresh energy into baseball’s beginnings with this captivating tale of two vibrant personalities whose friendly rivalry was integral to the rise of the professional game. While they came from starkly different backgrounds—Albert was a young, gangly pitcher from the country’s rural heartland and George the consummate athlete from the New York City area—their captivating performances on the field, along with their promotion of the game and of sports equipment, fed the public’s insatiable appetite for leisure-time pursuits and helped grow professional baseball to unprecedented heights. George Wright and Albert Spalding’s stories are masterfully woven together to paint a sweeping picture of the early days of professional baseball, the evolution of sports as a business, and the advancement of sports equipment and the sporting goods industry. Their rise as players and businessmen mirrored the rise of a nation that would lead the world in the coming century. Jeffrey Orens is the author of The Soul of Genius: Marie Curie, Albert Einstein and the Meeting that Changed the Course of Science. He is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research and his work has appeared in History Magazine, True West Magazine, and other historical publications. Orens resides in New Jersey. The Allston Multimodal Project entails straightening the Mass Pike, building a new commuter rail stop, and enabling a new neighborhood to be built on what is now an abandoned rail yard. There is widespread support for the benefits this project can bring in numerous ways. An area of contention remains what to do in the “throat” area between Boston University and the Charles River, where MassDOT (see rendering) proposes expanding roadway to the river’s edge, and installing the Paul Dudley White bike/pedestrian path in the river, harming river health, eliminating space for trees and parkland, and reducing flood storage capacity in an already flood-prone area. Charles River Watershed Association has been a member of the Allston Multimodal Project Task Force since its inception in 2014. We strongly support increased mobility options and sustainability for those traveling to and through Boston, but have consistently voiced concern with project designs that entail harm to the Charles.
