Come and experience this ancient game first played in the 13th century, although variants have been played since Egyptian times. Seemingly simple, this game requires plenty of practice and guidance to master, as the bowls curve when played! For this beginner's taster course, you'll be playing in pairs or triples, with plenty of experienced bowlers on hand to help with learning the game itself, as well as the etiquette of bowling. This 4-week course will be held 10:00 - 12:00 on four Thursdays in July: 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st. The tea break midway through the session will allow for some social time, to get to know your fellow players. You'll need to wear comfy clothes and flat-soled shoes or trainers. There's plenty of nearby paid parking in the car parks in Maison Dieu Road, Pencester Road or Charlton Shopping Centre, or free parking at Morrisons (three hours). Age UK South Kent Coast is delivering wellbeing activities for over 55's in partnership with Social Enterprise Kent, funded by Kent County Council (KCC). This subsidised activity has been made possible through KCC’s Universal Wellbeing programme.
