"Boating" is a major outdoor recreation, continuing to grow "fast pace" as a recreational sport througout the United States, while it remains a significant industry with strong economic impact, career and scholarship opportunities available for our next generation. Yet, boating has been a very uncommon experience and unusual recreational activity for many youth and teens growing up in the Washington Metropolitan area. Designed to promote interest, ignite passion and bring exposure to recreational boating activities and nautical safety...t his camp will be a fun, exciting and memorable introduction to boating and the maritime industry through STEM related education and hands-on practices! Our “unique” recreational camp programs are designed to incorporate STEM related marine biology, natural resources, environmental science, boating safety and financial literacy through maritime activities and nautical experiences . Through a series of year-round camp programs, we engage participants using practical skills and drills to encourage independence, teamwork, communication, confidence, respect and leadership. Camp curriculums encourage hands-on instruction and group activities that may enhance development of practical life skills, help increase confidence, self-awareness, safe decision-making, logical reasoning, prosocial behavior and improve academic performance of our graduates. By exposing young minds to the vast opportunities within boating, we not only cultivate interest, but we are also investing in the future of an industry having growing and critical needs for safety, education and skilled professionals to meet the demands of next generation boaters!
