Join photojournalist Emree Weaver for a hands-on 6-week course designed to help beginners confidently use their cameras and understand the mechanics of photography. Participants will explore the exposure triangle, depth of field, motion, composition, portraiture, and how to harness natural light. Includes weekly lectures, guided practice, take-home assignments, peer feedback sessions to build visual language, and at least one photo walk.
This class will meet weekly on Tuesdays from 6-7:30pm from July 22-Aug. 26. The fee covers the entire 6 weeks.
Requirements:
A DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual settings and access to a computer for assignment uploads.
About the Instructor:
Emree Weaver is a skilled photojournalist with over a decade of experience in the field. She has managed photographers at small-market newspapers, currently photographs for clients such as Cascade PBS, The Seattle Times, High Country News and Bloomberg, and does freelance photo editing for The New York Times. With her documentary-style, she also does brand storytelling and marketing photography for various local clients. Emree has experience teaching beginner and advanced photography students at the collegiate level and is excited to share her skills and knowledge with you!
