Photo Ops on Harsens Island | 1500 N Channel Dr
Cultural Experiences
Join Detroit Bird Alliance leaders experienced in birding and photography for a morning caravan field trip around Harsens Island in search of the many photo opportunities the island has to offer. Whether you shoot mirrorless, DSLR, action camera, film camera or even your cell phone, we welcome everyone that enjoys taking pictures of the natural world.
Stacy Williams of Harsens Island Photography and Evan Deutsch will be your trip leaders.
Harsens Island is situated in the St. Clair Flats, a large freshwater delta where the St. Clair River meets Lake St. Clair. The area is characterized by marshes, cattail, bulrush, and grasses with open channels, creating a rich and diverse habitat for birds.
The group may see marsh birds, waterfowl, songbirds and other species that call Harsens Island home.
GETTING TO THE ISLAND:
Attendees will be required to take the Champion's Auto Ferry to cross over to the island, which costs $15 roundtrip and can only be paid with cash or check. The ferry fee is not included in your field trip registration fee. The ferry runs continuously during the hours of 6 am to midnight.
***After registering, you will receive the Detroit Bird Alliance bi-monthly e-newsletter, Flyway Express. You may unsubscribe at any time. ***
