Registration is required for Public Skating at the highly anticipated Fire & Ice event, taking place on December 31, 2023, at the Palmerston Community Centre in Palmerston, ON. The Town of Minto is thrilled to invite families to ring in the New Year together at this exciting event, which will feature a range of activities sponsored by Blessings to You. To ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy the Public Skating sessions, participants must register for a timeslot. It is advisable to arrive early and be prepared to start skating promptly at the beginning of your assigned timeslot in order to make the most of the allocated time. Following each timeslot, the ice will be cleared to accommodate new skaters. The available timeslots are as follows: 6:00 p.m. - 6:25 p.m., 6:30 p.m. - 6:55 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. - 7:25 p.m. Please note that registration is only required for Public Skating; all other activities at the Fire & Ice event can be enjoyed without registration. The festivities will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., featuring Rockin' Tunes by DJ Cody, a Blacksmithing Demonstration with Ryan Leis, a meet and greet with the Ice Queen and Ice Princess, Glitter Tattoos with Makin' Faces, and various food options from the Berlin 95 Food Truck, Palmerston Kinettes, and Palmerston Traditional Scouting Group. Making you own herbal facial care products at home can be so rewarding, and being able to make potent herbal infused oils is a fundamental skill for that. That will be the focus of this class, with lots of basic herbal facial care info woven in. Come ready to get your hands on the process, because that's the best way to learn! Topics covered: Hands on demonstration of the alcohol intermediary oil infusion method (The best method I've found for extracting herbs into oil) Types of carrier oil and their benefits. Benefits of different herbs for facial care Tips for proper storage. What you can add to your oils to make serums. Take home a bottle of facial serum that we make together in class. This class is appropriate for beginner, intermediate and advanced medicine makers (advanced folks may be new to the alcohol intermediary process). All materials will be provided, though I do reocmmend bringing an apron, as we will be working with oil. This workshop is great for those just getting into herbal medicine, or with a little knowlege already. Please note that pets are not allowed in our venue. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed, but children 13 and up are welcome with a ticket. THE VENUE: Class will be held at Simple Wellness Co at 101 W Montana Ave, Roslyn, WA 98941. Come join me for an educational walk and learn about some of the medicinal and edible plants in the Cle Elum area. We'll wander the historic coal mines trail and talk about the uses of plants we find there, how to identify them, how to harvest them respectfully, and how to use them medicinally or for food. I expect to see plants such as california poppy, grand fir, sweet cherry, chokecherry, snow berry, blue elderberry, ponderosa pine, willow, apple, alfalfa, black cottonwood and many more. This walk is open to all levels, including folks very new to the idea of wild plants! Please note that Dogs and children under 13 are not allowed on this walk.
