Get ready for an unforgettable night of amazing music as PETUNIA & THE VIPERS take the stage at the Gibsons Legion. Described as a unique blend of hillbilly-flavoured swing, inflected ragtime, and thunderously rolling goodtime tunes, this band is a must-see. Their sound, often likened to a mix of Hank Williams on acid and Tom Waits meeting Elvis at Woody Guthrie’s Hobo junction, is truly one-of-a-kind. With elements of avant-country and a nod to the 1920s and steam punk eras, Petunia & The Vipers offer a music experience that transcends genres and captivates audiences worldwide. Louis Armstrong once said that his favorite kind of music was simply "Good music," and Petunia & the Vipers embody just that. Their music springs off the sounds of the past and lands firmly in the present day, leaving echoes of nostalgia in its wake. Join us at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109 in Gibsons, BC, on April 26, 2024, for a night that promises to be nothing short of extraordinary. Buzza and the Reckless Insanity is an outlaw country band that roared onto the scene in 2023, bringing a wild and unrestrained energy to every show. Known for their chaotic, booze-fueled performances, they've quickly built a reputation for keeping honky-tonk crowds dancing and drinking all night long. Fronted by Colin McGillivray on vocals and acoustic guitar, the band is powered by the searing electric guitar of Jesse Morrissey, the thundering bass of Gary Smith, and the relentless rhythm of James Law on drums. Their sound blends classic outlaw country with hard-hitting southern rock, delivering rowdy anthems that celebrate the reckless spirit of the open road and late-night barroom brawls. Unapologetically raucous and always unpredictable, Buzza and the Reckless Insanity are a band built for the outlaws at heart. Information Source: The 101 Brewhouse + Distillery | eventbrite

Did you know that Canada used to produce 90% of all the textiles we consumed? Now we produce less than 5% and most of the raw materials are sourced outside of Canada. This conversation will look at the social, political and environmental factors that changed our textile industry and what opportunities exist to revitalize the Canadian wool industry from a manufacturing and industry perspective. The workshop will explore the different sheep breeds available to us in Canada and how to connect with local fibre farmers in your region to access local wool and yarn. Presenter Anna Hunter started knitting in 1999 while she was a live-in nanny in Switzerland. During a leave from her work as an anti-proverty advocate in 2009, she decided to open up the very successful Baaad Anna's Yarn Store in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood of East Vancouver. About Perre Bensusan: “It’s Like The Guitar Has Been Given Free Reign To Play Itself!” Winner of the Independent Music Award for his triple live album "Encore", voted Best World Music Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine reader’s Poll, winner of the Rose d’Or at the Montreux Festival for his debut album, Pierre is recognized as one of the greatest guitar players of the 21st century. If World Music means the fusion of traditional, contemporary, jazz, classical and pop music, then Bensusan is one of the most eloquent World Music musicians of our time. A pianist in his beginnings then self-taught on the guitar, the originality of his style makes him one of today’s greatest guitarists and composers for the instrument. Also called “The Prince of DADGAD”, the Rose d'Or of the Montreux Festival, elected Best Guitarist of World Music by the readers of Guitar Player Magazine! His triple album "Encore" won the Grand Prix of the Independent Music Awards in the category Best Live Album... Since his first performances in 1974 in France, the guitarist has sold half a million albums and given thousands of concerts around the globe, both solo and through numerous collaborations. Pierre Bensusan is an adventurer of unusual lands. His almost “sacred” music is an intimate and orchestral hymn, a solo crossing on a multi-shell Lowden guitar subjected to the natural elements with sound molecules and finger pulp on an ebony fingerboard for open tuning - an unique and transparent technique, under the fingers of an adventurous pilgrim. “Listening to Pierre's music is rejuvenating. Beside his extraordinary touch and tone, the notes and melody appeal directly to the tender side of our human nature” Steve Vai “This is beautiful... Pierre is one of the GREATS!!!” Tommy Emmanuel Cgp. With only his steel-string-acoustic guitar – and sometimes his rich, affecting voice – Mr Bensusan can disassemble your heart and hand it back to you restored and renewed. As he did to mine tonight. A true giant.” James Volpe Rotondi (former senior editor at Guitar Player Magazine) This event is co-presented by Salish Sea Cultural Society.
