Citizens Safety Academy presents the Citizens Prosocial Pistol Skills (Private) course, which offers comprehensive training in the protective use of the pistol. This two-day intensive course equips participants with the essential skills required to effectively defend against a deadly criminal attack, all while operating within the boundaries of the law. Specifically designed for armed citizens who carry concealed handguns, as well as plain clothes or off-duty police officers, this course aims to cultivate the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to dominate and ultimately end a life-threatening assault, while also effectively defending these actions in a court of law.
Key topics covered in the course include techniques for mental awareness and gaining an advantage in life-threatening confrontations, cultivating a proper defensive mindset and personal tactics, concealing a pistol correctly and considerations for clothing, as well as effective gun handling techniques designed to function under stress. Participants will also learn rapid presentation from concealed carry during an attack, high-speed accuracy at close ranges, precision shooting at mid-ranges, fixing pistol malfunctions and reloading techniques, shooting effectively with one hand, shooting effectively with a cognitive load, tactical anatomy, and proper skill development practices.
To attend this course, participants are required to have completed a state handgun carry permit class or a similar pistol shooting class. Additionally, some prior experience in safely handling, drawing, and holstering a pistol is recommended. A completion certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course.
To take part in the Citizens Prosocial Pistol Skills (Private) course, participants will need a quality pistol (preferably 9mm or .38 Special), a quality strong side hip or appendix holster that fully covers the trigger guard and allows for a full firing grip, a purpose-designed belt to securely attach the holster and support the weight of a loaded pistol, approximately 550-600 rounds of quality training ammunition, at least 3 magazines or speed loaders with appropriate belt pouches, clothing suitable for concealing a firearm, eye and hearing protection, comfortable shoes, rain gear, bug repellant, and sun screen. Participants are also advised to bring a cooler with drinks, snacks, and lunch, as lunch will be held on-site.
It is strongly recommended to avoid bringing a revolver, as they may not withstand the demands of a full day of intensive shooting.
Citizens Safety Academy strives to provide the highest quality training, and lead instructor Aqil Qadir, along with other CSA instructors, will ensure a comprehensive and professional learning experience.
