Details

Join Amber and Jackie for a walk from Dale End Park through the woods and into the Beeches and Lodge Local Nature Reserves. This slow amble through a variety of different habitats hopes to capture some of the beautiful dawn chorus songs and calls. Although not experts in bird song, we will utilise our knowledge (and technology) to have a go at identifying some of the birds around us, there will be a break in the nature reserves to enjoy some orange juice and a croissant for those who would like, before returning into Ironbridge ready to continue the day! Please note, this walk is more aiming to enjoy and appreciate the joy and beauty of the dawn chorus, rather than focussing on identifying individual songs and calls. Grade of Walk: Easy/Moderate Length: 3 miles Pace: Leisurely Terrain: Mixed, with some steep steps, woodlands and lanes Steps and Stiles: Steps Dog Friendly: NO Walk Leader: Amber Bicheno Specific Walk Information: Muddy/ possibly overgrown. Essential Information for Walkers: All walks take place within the Ironbridge Gorge which will naturally include uphill and downhill sections. Please come prepared for the walk, with water, drinks, snacks and lunch as appropriate as it is not possible to purchase items on route. Good walking boots/shoes are essential and be prepared for wet or sunny weather- possibly both in the same day! Children ( Under 18’s ) are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility and be capable of the distance, pace and duration of the walk. Please allow plenty of time to reach your event, parking can be tricky in the gorge! It is possible to reach Ironbridge via public transport but there are limited services. For information on local bus services see www.arrivabus.co.uk or www.telfordpublictransport.co.uk . Medals are available for anyone completing 25,50,75 or 100 miles over 3 or more walks during the festival and if you complete over 150 miles you will receive our new Cartman Challenge medal – it has been done!!!.
