The PRIMARY HANDGUN 2 DAY event, hosted by ATEi Great Lakes Custom Works, is a comprehensive and essential class for students looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in handgun usage. This two-day course serves as the core offering in our curriculum, providing students with the necessary confidence and awareness to excel in handgun performance.
Designed for both novice and experienced shooters, this class focuses on developing a strong foundation of fundamentals and a performance-driven mindset. Students will learn the basics of firearm safety, performance shooting skills, and the science of body mechanics in relation to firearm shooting. Additionally, topics such as efficient draw mechanics, loading and reloading techniques, shooting from various positions, and malfunction causes and correction will be covered.
Throughout the course, students will engage in multiple target accusations and engagements, intuitive shooting, and efficient engagement of multiple threats. The training also includes sessions on shooting under stress, fast and deliberate moving, and long-range engagements with a handgun. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to execute these skill sets at a higher level.
To participate in the PRIMARY HANDGUN 2 DAY event, students must bring their own functional pistol, 800 rounds minimum of pistol ammunition, a holster (excluding cross draw and shoulder rigs), eye and ear protection, and 3-5 working magazines for double stacked pistols or 5-10 for single stacks. Other essential items include a note pad, pen/pencil, proper belt to support pistol and mag pouches, firearm lube, and tools specific to work upon your gear. Additionally, students are encouraged to bring sunscreen, rain gear, bug spray, food, water, a baseball-type hat, and knee/elbow pads and gloves (optional).
