Visit to Woodhall Dean Wildlife Reserve | Woodhall Dean Wildlife Reserve
May 17, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Dunbar
Join the reserve convener, Lesley, for a walk around the reserve. Woodhall Dean, on the edge of the Lammermuir Hills, is an ancient semi-natural woodland dominated by sessile oak. Five thousand years ago, sessile oak covered much of southern Scotland but now there are only a few woodlands where they grow in large numbers.
Reserve car park and location details can be found on the Scottish Wildlife Trust website -

.
Please note we had previously stated on our newletter that event would take place on 10 May, the correct date is 17 May.
There is a circular path around the reserve, which is steep and narrow in places and can be muddy. Please note that there are steep slopes and a lot of steps, some quite high, to navigate on this walk and a reasonable level of fitness is required, as well as sturdy footwear.
This is not an easy reserve to get access to by public transport. Please contact the organiser if you would like help getting there as we may be able to help. Please car share where possible.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Make sure to bring a packed lunch and binoculars if you have them, and wear suitable outdoor clothing.

THE SNOZZBERRIES
Hi-Energy Psychedelic Prog-Fusion Rock from Asheville, NC
The Snozzberries are an undeniable force of raw musical power, a constantly evolving band laser-focused on pushing boundaries. Their huge, distinct sound is a sonic voyage, epitomized by hi-energy psychedelia, progressive rock, and deep-fried funk. Praised by Rolling Stone as a “jubilant rock act,” The Snozzberries are notorious for their technically proficient, artistically rooted music.
The Asheville, NC based rock group has always emphasized engaging with their audience through tight musical arrangements and improvisational exploration. Delving deeper into a new era of progressive fusion based storytelling, The Snozzberries are ready to nourish the masses with their infectious riffs and memorable vocal harmonies.
In November 2024, The Snozzberries released their new self-titled album to rave reviews. Described by Grateful Web as "a gift for all progressive music fans," The Snozzberries is a cosmic journey, channeling dark psych rock, thrash metal, funk and soul to weave a tapestry of love, loss and redemption. Prog Magazine praised the album as “Pushing the envelope in energy, chaos and breadth...An exuberant collection of tasty grooves and kaleidoscopic jams.”
On a hot streak of creativity, the band recently released “Durt Nap,” the first in a series of live-studio singles. Each of these new singles has been recorded, mixed and mastered by the band’s drummer Logan Jayne at his home studio, and all feature an accompanying music video. Fans can anticipate seeing these new releases every few weeks for the rest of 2025.
The Snozzberries notably thrive as a live ensemble, so much that Live For Live Music wrote “the band delivered a hard-hitting set that raged against the elements and was a worthwhile reason for many - including this reporter - to get soaked.” They have wowed audiences at festivals including Hulaween, Summer Camp, Resonance, Sweetwater 420 Fest, Warren Haynes Xmas Jam By Day, AVLFest and more. They have shared the stage with bands such as Papadosio, Perpetual Groove, Here Come The Mummies, and Big Something and have played official afterparties for Umphrey's McGee, The Disco Biscuits and Lotus.
