Join the reserve convener, Lesley, for a walk around the reserve. Woodhall Dean, on the edge of the Lammermuir Hills, is an ancient semi-natural woodland dominated by sessile oak. Five thousand years ago, sessile oak covered much of southern Scotland but now there are only a few woodlands where they grow in large numbers. Reserve car park and location details can be found on the Scottish Wildlife Trust website - https://scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/reserve/woodhall-dean/ . Please note we had previously stated on our newletter that event would take place on 10 May, the correct date is 17 May. There is a circular path around the reserve, which is steep and narrow in places and can be muddy. Please note that there are steep slopes and a lot of steps, some quite high, to navigate on this walk and a reasonable level of fitness is required, as well as sturdy footwear. This is not an easy reserve to get access to by public transport. Please contact the organiser if you would like help getting there as we may be able to help. Please car share where possible. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Make sure to bring a packed lunch and binoculars if you have them, and wear suitable outdoor clothing. Booking essential.
