LeVolume is the new and exciting project by canadian folk-scenesters and husband and wife dream team Jenny Whiteley and Joey Wright along with the multi-talented and going concern Julian Brown. Between the three of them they have a clutch of Juno Awards, a pair of Gold Records, a peck of Socan #1 Awards, a herd of Canadian Folk Awards Nominations and a murder of Crows. LeVolume’s self-titled, bi-lingual debut double-album is dropping in May, 2025, and the group is hitting the road to celebrate. Aaron Davis is a multiple Juno and Gemini award-winning composer, arranger and pianist. In 1979 he helped found world beat-jazz band Manteca, for whom he wrote many songs. He is a founding member of the Holly Cole Trio with whom he still performs and records. Davis has done all of her orchestral arrangements, which have been performed by symphonies across Canada, the U.S. and Japan. Davis has also collaborated on many projects around the world with classical soprano Measha Brueggergosman-Lee . Most recently Davis composed a 35-minute song cycle called "Zombie Blizzard", where he set Margaret Atwood poetry to music. He has also done orchestral & choral arrangements for other artists, including the Art Of Time, Madeleine Peyroux, Alison Krauss, Natalie McMaster, David Clayton Thomas, Eliana Cuevas, Leahy, the Canadian Brass, Quartetto Gelato, Kevin Breit and the Iseler Singers. Other singers he has worked and collaborated with recently include Lori Cullen, Suba Sankaran, Dylan Bell and Maryem Tollar . Joey Wright is a Juno-nominated songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and performer from Toronto. Joey is well known for his lyrical and inspired guitar and mandolin playing. He is also highly regarded for his compositions and songwriting. Joey was one of the leading lights in the explosive bluegrass, old time and traditional country scene in Toronto in the 90’s and 2000’s. Joey joined Jenny Whiteley ’s band in 1999, and their first two albums ( Jenny Whiteley & Hopetown ) both won Juno awards for Best Roots Traditional Album . In 2005 Joey joined Sarah Harmer ’s band to record the album I’m A Mountain which earned him a gold record. In 2007 Joey collaborated with Jesse Zubot , Steve Dawson , Dan Whiteley and Joe Phillips to create his own album, Jalopy . Jalopy received a Juno nomination for Best Instrumental Album . He has since recorded the acclaimed albums Hatch, Tuxedo! (with Christine Bougie), Country Music, and Satie on the Beach (with Luke Mercier) among others. Joey is one third of LeVolume. Michael Eckert on pedal steel guitar. While mostly associated with country music, Michael's driving musical curiosity has taken him and his beautiful instrument to the far reaches of jazz, psychedelia and world music. His project The Neon Eagle has attracted an array of toronto's most creative music makers. Eric Wright is a very unique cellist. Raised on pure Vermont air and inspired by his love for American Old Time and Irish music, he sets out to incorporate cello into new and traditional music in ways that haven't been done before. Taking his innovative bowing techniques, chording styles, and 'the chop', to new levels, Eric has become a highly sought-after performer, accompanist, producer, session musician, and arranger for all types of folk styles.Eric has performed and recorded with numerous bands including Ruth Moody, Trey Anastasio, Natalie MacMaster, The Fretless, John Reischman, Mairi Rankin , and many others. Wunderkind director Gints Zilbalodis has taken the animation world by storm with his beautifully crafted sophomore feature Flow , which has received a multitude of awards and nominations to date, including two nominations for both BAFTA and the Academy Awards.   The mystical world he creates in Flow is in peril. There are traces of human inhabitants, but they are now nowhere to be seen as water begins to flood the landscape. The story begins following a small, solitary cat as the shoreline rises and the home where it once lived is submerged underwater. Forced to flee, he happens upon a refuge boat containing a calm and unperturbed Cabybarre who seems amenable to his presence, and the two begin a journey on the water towards higher ground. Along the way they cross paths with a lemur, obsessed with collecting shiny objects, a boisterous and excitable dog and a stoic, mysterious secretary bird. Together, as they traverse the landscape on their fable-like quest, the ragtag team of animals must learn to trust each other and work together to survive.  Flow pushes the boundaries of animation, immersing audiences in a world before unseen. Cultural Experiences
After spending ten years swinging from trees as an arborist, Adam decided a job was needed where he could keep both feet firmly on the ground, whilst still being a part of the woodland around him. Having previously studied engineering, woodworking seemed a natural step, and working with the natural inclination of green wood soon developed into a passion. Many of his spoons have exquisite kolrosing decoration, this is a traditional Scandinavian technique where single incised cuts are made to create a pattern, the spoon is then oiled, and a colourant rubbed into the incisions and once burnished the pattern is sealed in. Adam lives in West Dorset and runs spoon carving courses across the UK. During this one day course, discover how to safely use the axe, knife and hook knife, what to look for when selecting wood, spoon design and how to carve with confidence. Develop a passion for this heritage craft and connect with the natural world. Your spoons will be made from locally sources greenwood. You will create a unique spoon using simple hand tools.
