A Literary and Musical Evening with Dr. Samantha Ege Join us for a special evening with acclaimed pianist and musicologist Dr. Samantha Ege as she shares insights from her latest book, which highlights the groundbreaking contributions of Black women who shaped Chicago’s South Side into a thriving center for classical music. In addition to the book discussion, Dr. Ege will perform selections that bring this rich history to life. This event is presented in partnership with the Seminary Co-op Bookstore and the University of Chicago Library Community Engagement team. Light refreshments will be provided. The Library thanks Julie and Roger Baskes for their generous support in making this event possible. Seminary Co-op Bookstore will be onsite for book sale. She is the author of South Side Impresarios: How Race Women Transformed Chicago’s Classical Music Scene and coeditor of The Cambridge Companion to Florence B. Price. Her albums feature world premiere recordings of music by Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, Helen Hagan, and Undine Smith Moore. Her next album features the world premiere recording of Julia Perry's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in Two Speeds with Lontano Orchestra.
