Join artist Claire Halpin for an exploration of art at the Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda. The event, titled "Alzheimers & Dementia Azure on Micheál O'Connell - System Interference," is part of the Azure Programme developed for people living with dementia and Alzheimer's. This inclusive and participant-centered session aims to create a safe and caring environment for discussing artwork. Using Visual Thinking Strategies, attendees can freely express their opinions and interpretations of the artwork. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary, making it an enjoyable way to discover more about art and engage with others. The session is free to book and lasts for approximately one hour. By providing a friendly and inclusive space for active discussion, Highlanes Gallery aims to combat the isolation and frustration often experienced by those living with dementia-related diseases. Studies have shown that art therapy and creative expression can greatly benefit individuals with dementia and Alzheimer's, improving self-confidence and overall mood. The Azure project, a collaboration between the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Age and Opportunity, and several Irish galleries, including Highlanes, seeks to increase support and awareness of dementia in Ireland.
