The event, titled "An Author Event with Halle Hill," will take place on September 19, 2023 at 6 pm in the heart of downtown Knoxville. During this event, Halle Hill will engage in a thought-provoking conversation about her debut collection, GOOD WOMEN, alongside Knoxville's Poet Laureate, Rhea Carmon.

GOOD WOMEN, a captivating and powerful collection, explores the lives of twelve Black women residing in the Appalachian South. These women navigate a variety of experiences, from embarking on journeys to meet sugar daddy's mothers to contemplating revenge on local preachers. With a blend of dark humor and raw emotion, Halle Hill skillfully examines the impact of place, family ties, generational trauma, obsession, and boundaries on personal growth and relationships.

Hill's writing has been recognized with prestigious nominations and awards, including the PEN/Dau Short Story Prize and the Crystal Wilkinson Creative Writing Prize. Her work has been published in notable literary journals such as Joyland, New Limestone Review, and Oxford American. It is with great anticipation that her debut collection, Good Women: Stories, will be published by Hub City Press in 2023.
