SportBU is excited to announce a brand new event – Blues vs Yellows – designed to celebrate the outstanding sporting talents of our students and we want YOU to be part of the action! Whether you're an athlete, a fan, or someone who wants to cheer on their friends, this is an event you won't want to miss.
Team Blue will represent our Faculty of Science & Technology students and Bournemouth University Business School. Team Yellow will comprise our Faculty of Health & Social Sciences and Faculty of Media & Communication students.
The event will span several days across different locations, but the real highlight will take place on Wednesday 7 May at our Chapel Gate site. This day promises to be packed with excitement, energy, and a festival atmosphere. From thrilling sports competitions to tons of activities, food, music, and more, it's the perfect way to celebrate the spirit of sport!
What’s on offer?
Non-stop sports action
 – Get ready for a day filled with thrilling sports action and cheer on players from TeamBU including American football, baseball, cheerleading, cricket, dance, football, hockey, lacrosse, netball, rugby and ultimate frisbee
Food vendors and bars
 – There’s a whole range of food vendors on offer, whether you're in the mood for something sweet or savoury. You can also grab a drink at one of the bars
Live music
 – Enjoy live performances throughout the day, setting the perfect vibe for this amazing event
Giant games and giveaways
 – Get involved in giant outdoor games and be in with a chance to win exciting prizes in our giveaways
Sports therapists
 – Take advantage of free advice and services from professional sports therapists, perfect for those of you training hard

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing punting on the Avon River in Christchurch, and it was an absolutely delightful way to explore the city. The journey itself was serene and picturesque, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.Our guide, dressed in traditional Edwardian attire, expertly navigated the flat-bottomed boat with a long pole, allowing us to relax and take in the tranquil surroundings. We drifted past lush greenery, charming bridges, and historic architecture, all of which created a postcard-perfect backdrop. The gentle pace of the punting made it easy to fully appreciate the beauty of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and the calm waters of the river.The entire experience was wonderfully calming, yet never dull. Our guide shared interesting tidbits about the area&rsquo;s history and natural features, making the trip both relaxing and educational. It&rsquo;s the kind of activity that feels timeless&mdash;no rush, no stress, just the simple pleasure of gliding through a scenic waterway.Overall, I&rsquo;d highly recommend punting on the Avon to anyone visiting Christchurch. It&rsquo;s a unique and charming way to see the city, and it&rsquo;s perfect for solo travelers, couples, and families alike. I came away feeling refreshed, with a newfound appreciation for Christchurch&rsquo;s natural beauty and historic charm.

It turns out that the scenery is not as good as the online ones, and the scenery on the way to New Zealand is actually not worse than this. In short, it&#39;s okay.
