The legend of Mount Egmont is equally fascinating. Legend has it that Mount Taranaki was once part of the Tongariro volcanic group, but was discovered by Tongariro when it was having a tryst with Tongariro&#39;s lover, the Pihanga volcano on Lake Taupo.
