Saint-Maurice-de-l'Echouerie Events in September, 2025

How many different species; – native –¬ foreign import – naturalised – and invasive can be found on the island? What are the political, environmental, health and social implications of the way we manage the street, park and forest trees in our boroughs? What would be the impacts if we changed strategies?
In this 
6 week walking course
, we will learn to identify species both in their urban and natural habitats. Topics of discussion are: Indigenous uses, cultural importance, frost and climactic zones, effects of climate changes, illnesses, obstacles to proper growth, environmental benefits, tree selection and care.
Louise Chênevert
, B.F.A, B.Ed, PDC is an educator, environmentalist and photographer. She has worked in municipal tree committees and is a committed tree planter. She has been leading tree walks and courses for many years. She brings an integrated approach to the discovery of our natural heritage.
Locations:
 We will meet at different parks for each class. Selected locations are easily accessible by public transit.
What to bring:
 Please wear adequate footwear and seasonal clothing, notepad, snacks and water.
Optional:
 guide books, sketchpad, camera, binoculars.
Fee includes:

Quelles sont les implications politiques, environnementales, sociales et de santé sur la gestion des arbres de nos rues, de nos parcs et de nos forêts dans les arrondissements? Quels seraient les impacts si nous changions nos stratégies?
Dans ce 
cours de 6 semaines
, nous apprendrons tous en marchant, à identifier les espèces à la fois dans leurs habitats urbains et naturels. Les sujets abordés seront: usages autochtones, importance culturel, les zones de gel et climatiques, les effets des changements climatiques, les maladies, les obstacles à une croissance adéquate, les avantages environnementaux, la sélection et l'entretien des arbres.
Louise Chênevert
, B.F.A, B.Ed, PDC est éducatrice, environnementaliste et photographe. Elle a travaillé dans des comités municipaux portant sur les arbres et participe activement à la plantation d’arbres. Elle dirige des promenades à la découverte des arbres et anime des cours depuis de nombreuses années. Elle apporte une approche intégrée à la découverte de notre patrimoine naturel.
Lieu: 
A chaque séance, nous nous rencontrerons dans différents parcs. Les endroits sont facilement accessibles en transport en commun.
