Curator's tours: A is for ox The Australian Library of Art Showcase displays rare items curated from State Library's collections. Our current display, A is for Ox, focuses on the art and history of typography. Did you know that the capital letter A, from our modern Latin alphabet, started as a picture of an ox head? If you turn it upside-down you can still see its horns.The Ancient Greeks adopted it for their phonetic alphabet, turned it onto its head, and there it has remained. Generations of typographers and book artists have since exercised their skills on the letters of the alphabet, turning those symbols representing sounds back into art again. This display roams through the collections of the Australian Library of Art – from the typewriter art of Henry Greenhow’s Ziggurats and the word art of Richard Tipping to the glorious typographic books of Alan Loney. There are many places in the center of Brisbane that tempt me to go and play, and it is also very convenient to take the bus, so whenever I have time, I will come here to find those must-visit places, and I don&rsquo;t want to miss any of them. The Queensland State Library is a place that cannot be missed. It is located in the cultural district of the center of Brisbane, Australia, on the south bank of the Brisbane River. In fact, I have walked past this building several times, and I didn&rsquo;t expect it to be a library from the outside.
Later I asked someone and they said: The 1st to 3rd floors of this building are the library. Sure enough, the library is spacious, bright, and quiet. You can enter directly without going through any procedures.
The layout of the three floors is unique, and the space is diverse and suitable for learning, reading, and surfing the Internet. It is very practical and artistic. The style of the Queensland State Library is refreshing, and I like this quiet place very much.

It is a very nice place to chill around, especially on the weekend. There are also restaurants by the river where you could grab a drink and enjoy your day.

The blue sky and beautiful water are a great place for a vacation. Australia is indeed a tourist destination! I bid farewell to the talkativeness of Shanghai and came here to be as warm as spring.
There are few people and it feels very good. I can also eat oysters at night, which is super delicious.

Not far from the Queensland Art Gallery is the Modern Art Gallery. Although the exteriors of the two art galleries are ordinary, the interiors are elegant, quiet and warm, each with its own unique design. The Modern Art Gallery houses many works by modern abstract and creative painters, with ingenious ideas, rich and colorful painting inspirations and artistic creativity. If you don&#39;t read the introduction, you really can&#39;t imagine the meaning behind the works. It is suitable for avant-garde art lovers.

This is a great way to see the Brisbane River and enjoy a leisurely ride to Lone Pine Sanctuary. The staff are friendly and efficient. There is a small bar on board where you can get some tasty snacks, my husband loved the sausage rolls. On the journey there you get commentary and on the way home easy listening music. So if you are not in a hurry enjoy the excursion.

The Queensland Museum in Brisbane is the largest natural museum here. It houses many cultural relics related to Queensland&#39;s nature, history, and humanities. Among them are many paleontological fossils, reflecting the biodiversity here in ancient times. It is definitely worth a visit for archaeology enthusiasts.
