What to Expect
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll:
Bring your own 
clothing or fabric patches
 to print on using the cyanotype process.
Receive a 
tote bag
 as part of the workshop (included in the cost).
Choose between printing with 
direct sunlight
 or using a 
UV oven
 for exposure.
Learn how to print on fabric using prepped photo negatives, stencils, and other materials.
Dry your pieces
 faster using a 
hair dryer
 (feel free to bring one with you).
Workshop Flow
Doors open at 4:30 PM
Mini presentation at 4:45 PM
The rest of the workshop will be 
hands-on learning
 with guidance throughout. The goal is to complete at least 
two pieces
 to take home: a 
tote bag
 and your 
own piece of clothing
.We recommend bringing fabric items made from 
natural fibers
 like 
cotton
, as cyanotype prints work best on these materials. Please note that results may vary, and it’s important to stay open to unexpected outcomes!

: Masks are mandatory to ensure the safety of all attendees.

Cyanotype & Fabric Safety
: The cyanotype process is safe, but we will take precautions:
Avoid direct skin contact with cyanotype solution; wash with soap and water if needed.
Hair dryers and heat tools will be used with caution.

A tutorial on how to print negatives
A cyanotype process overview

The Governor General&#39;s Palace is free to visit, but reservations are required in advance. There are staff to guide you through the tour and give explanations, which takes about an hour. There is a bronze statue of Queen Elizabeth II riding a horse on the roundabout outside the gate.
