The Dancember stepdance event in Portobello offers stepdance workshops for beginners and intermediate/advanced dancers. These workshops explore percussive rhythms to strathspeys, reels, and jigs, providing an opportunity to learn and create percussive patterns with the music. 

The beginners workshop focuses on the basic rhythms of strathspeys, reels, and jigs, helping participants understand how to use these rhythms to generate expressive percussive patterns. 

For those with previous stepdance or other percussive dance experience, the intermediate/advanced workshop delves into more complex rhythms and steps, allowing dancers to enhance their skills and move at a faster pace. 

To bring the two workshops together, a Cape Breton square set will be performed, enabling everyone to dance together using their steps. 

If you're passionate about stepdance or simply want to dedicate more time to stepping, both sessions can be attended by selecting the appropriate ticket option.
