How do we respond when an inanimate object becomes our duet partner? How do we listen to stillness, attend to the unpredictable, and choreograph the ordinary? This workshop invites participants to explore how we encounter, embody, and integrate the inanimate into our dancing. Using inanimate objects as movement collaborators, the workshop reimagines how we perceive dance, movement, and the body itself. In particular, the ping pong ball will serve as a focal point, inviting participants to explore movement through a playful yet challenging dialogue with this small but dynamic object. Through this collaboration, participants will step beyond traditional notions of dance, discovering how stillness, unpredictability, and spontaneity can become choreography. The workshop encourages participants, especially those without formal dance experience, to reframe their everyday movements and interactions. By doing so, they transform mundane actions into expressive dance sequences. Structured in three key stages—Authenticity, Clarity, and Duetting—participants will heighten their awareness of time, space, and the relationship between their bodies and the ping pong ball. Through observation, experimentation, and improvisation, they will cultivate a unique partnership with the ball, allowing it to influence and inspire new choreographic possibilities. Please note:
- Participants need to register with a valid mylibrary ID account or else your registration will be invalid.
- Due to limited slots, please come on time as your slot will be given to walk-in participants if any. This programme is suitable for: - Participants age 17 years and above - Participants who are considered physically fit to do a movement class. Attire Notes: 1) Bare feet, no shoes required. 2) Fitting & stretchable attire (T-shirt & pants) which allow you to move freely, even level changes. 3) NO jeans, skirt and dress, but socks are allowed if you really need. 4) Bring along your own bottled water. 5) A towel for yourself, as you may sweat during training. About The Performer's Body Series Central Arts Library’s “The Performer’s Body” is designed for participants with little to no performing experience, providing them with essential skills, and understanding of their body’s potential. This workshop series focuses on fundamental techniques, gradually building participants performing vocabulary. By exploring the basics of physicality and expression, “The Performer’s Body” equips participants with a foundation to begin their artistic journey. About Dapheny Chen Dapheny Chen is an independent dance artist navigating the roles of choreographer, performer, and educator. Her practice prioritises the dancing body, revisiting archived movement within the living body to re-frame, re-inform, and re-educate the way dance and choreography are made, viewed, and engaged with. She explores labour practices, questioning the value, sustainability, and economics of artistic work. By examining how dance is produced and consumed, she advocates for equitable practices in the field. Collaborating with inanimate objects, technology, and alternative documentation processes, she seeks to develop actionable research through performance and academia, fostering global dialogues on dance labour and value.

It may be because of the summer vacation. Even on weekdays, there are a lot of people. The roller coaster is 120 minutes, and the mummy is 70 minutes. Especially the projects where you can&#39;t use your mobile phone and can only wait are quite tiring. There will be a lot fewer people around 7 pm. Due to the weather and climate of Singapore 🇸🇬, occasional heavy rain may cause the project to wait for maintenance temporarily. Overall, the experience is not bad. It feels slightly better than the North Ring in all aspects. It is also one of the few second visits we have in Singapore❤️

The whole trip was perfect! Singapore is such a great place! Not only is the scenery beautiful, but Singaporeans are also very friendly to Chinese people! The attractions I especially want to recommend are Singapore Changi Airport and Marina Gardens, which are really amazing. The hotel I chose is also very good, and the hotel recommended by Ctrip is really cost-effective. I would also like to thank Xiaoxiao, the housekeeper of Ctrip for this trip to Singapore. She is really a very responsible consultant. She took good care of us throughout the whole process, including helping us fill out the entry form. First, the conclusion: the zoo is great, and the night experience is also very novel. It is definitely a must-visit attraction in Singapore, no one else.

The only thing you need to pay attention to is: don&rsquo;t book tickets on Ctrip. Because you may find that you have to wait outside the door for two hours before you can enter the park after you arrive; no matter how much homework you do, you will never think that Ctrip will cheat you, and it will be a big one; you have to stand honestly after taking a taxi from the city center, and Ctrip will question us as fools, and four fools.

Our group of four bought the tickets shown in the picture, with the keywords: [No reservation required] [7:15PM]. It should be noted that this product includes two tickets, one [Chinese train] and the other [entry ticket]. On the purchase page, you only need to select the time of the train, because the product interface clearly states that no reservation is required for the entrance ticket, [You can enter the park according to the Chinese train schedule and show the voucher to the staff].

OK, then the purchase is successful, I clicked on the confirmation form, looked at the precautions with satisfaction, and looked forward to the wonderful experience of my first night tour of the zoo in my life.

The big one is coming. Because we still had work to do in the afternoon, the four of us took a taxi to the zoo after the meeting. We arrived at the gate at 19:20 and found that there were five or six park staff standing about 20 meters in front of the gate checking tickets one by one, shouting that those who were waiting for 19:15 could enter the park now. As a result, when they saw our tickets, they said NO, because although our train time was fine, there was a line of small words under the QR code of [Entrance Ticket] [Admission from 9:15 PM], which means that the scheduled entry time was after 9:15 pm. Apart from Universal Studios, this is the only place my children visited twice. They played there both during the day and at night and returned very satisfied. It is sunnier in the daytime and in the morning, and each round of waiting time is longer than the last.
