Do It For Dad 6K Memorial Race

This event is being held in memory of Tim Baxter, who lost his life too soon in February of 2025. Tim was a beloved husband, father, coworker, and friend to countless people and we plan to honour his memory with an annual 6k event. He was an "athlet" in his younger days, where he would always brag about running the local road races, but he was also active in many sports later in life including hockey, golf, fishing, and riding his bike to the boat with his wife, Lisa. Seeing his loved ones commemorate him in this way would mean the world to him.
We believe that an event combining fitness, camaraderie, the outdoors, and cold beverages is the perfect way to remember Tim. Dunne Road will be blocked off from traffic for the race, so we encourage you to bring your kids, strollers, and dogs - all are welcome to join!

Event Breakdown:
1:00 pm - Race Registration opens
1:45 pm - Pre-Race Talk
2:00 pm - Race Start (5km)
3:00 pm - Celebration (1km Grace)
Post Race Celebration at The Wreck Restaurant:
A post-race event (1km grace) will be held at 'The Wreck', a local beachside bar & grill overlooking Lake Erie, a place where Tim enjoyed many pints. Everyone is welcome to enjoy drinks and food afterwards to celebrate and cheers to Tim's heavenly 60th birthday!

Proceeds: 
The proceeds from the event will be donated to the Colchester Guardian Marine Rescue which is a volunteer-based non-profit organization dedicated to marine search and rescue. Tim's more recent endeavour involved volunteering for the Guardian and dedicating his time towards marine search and rescue training and volunteering, in which he was very proud of and enjoyed every moment on the Guardian.

Hydration Station at 2.5km
Checkpoint and finish line will be serving water and snacks
Music throughout the route
Track and mark down your own run time on the score chart once crossing the finish line
Prizes to be awarded post race at The Wreck
Public washrooms available in the Colchester Harbour Park.
Free public parking available in the Colchester Harbour Park.
We Welcome Virtual Attendance!
If you are unable to join for race day, maybe you are busy, or live far away - this event welcomes virtual attendance. Feel free to still sign-up, partake in the walk/run race whenever you please, and we will ensure you recieve you Do It For Dad custom t-shirt!
