Elizabeth Shepherd, nicknamed Dolly, became famous for jumping out of balloons and floating back to earth in front of crowds of admirers. She was a daring performer who made her first and last jumps from Alexandra Park, North London but had a successful career nationally and unlike many of her aerial pioneer friends survived accidents, going on to serve in both the First and Second World Wars. Kirsten Forrest is Curatorial & Interpretation Manager at Alexandra Park & Palace Charitable Trust. Sheis an Edinburgh University graduate, with a curatorial background in the National Museums of Scotland; now responsible for interpretation and collections management at Alexandra Palace. Kirsten previously worked in the British Museum Exhibitions department. Since 2015 Kirsten has been collaborating closely with university researchers, students and specialists in digital media, gaining practice-based research experience in visitor engagement across diverse subjects and collections at Alexandra Palace.
