Join the Draw Derby event in Derby this December 2023! Draw Derby is a monthly gathering in the city center that welcomes everyone to come together and practice the magic of drawing. It is a free outdoor event where you can meet like-minded individuals and draw together. Whether you are a beginner or experienced in drawing, this event is open to all. Drawing teaches us to pay closer and more caring attention to the world around us, allowing us to change the way we see and move through it. Inspired by Maria Popova (The Marginalian) in response to Wendy MacNaughton's TED Talk, Draw Derby aims to create a deeper connection with the world through the art of drawing. It is a love letter to Derby from its citizens and beyond. The gatherings take place on the last Saturday of every month throughout the year and are designed to connect with the city and build a sense of community. Meet by The Waterfall sculpture in the Market Place at 10:30 am and be ready to draw. After an hour, we will move to a different location for a different perspective. After two hours, we will share our drawings and exchange supportive feedback. Please bring your own drawing materials. The event is self-directed, allowing participants to use the time in whatever way suits them. Rainy days will not be a problem as locations with overhead shelter will be chosen.
