Drums Along the Hudson: A Native American and Multicultural Celebration is set to mark its 22nd anniversary on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, at Inwood Hill Park in New York City. The event will feature a lineup of captivating performances and activities throughout the day. Mohawk Elder Tom Porter will kick off the festival with the Thanksgiving Address and a ceremonial Tree of Peace Planting. Louis Mofsie will lead a vibrant Powwow, accompanied by the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers and Host Drums Henya Second Sons. Attendees can look forward to cultural showcases by groups such as the Kalpulli Huehuetlatolli Aztec Dancers, Haudenosaunee Oneida Singers and Dancers, and the Dominican Arts Collective led by Edwin Ferreras. The day will also include engaging activities like storytelling, a Mohawk craft demonstration, and a variety of international and vegan cuisine options. Additionally, organizations promoting environmental awareness will be present, including the Coalition for Healthy School Food and Shumei Natural Agriculture. Notable figures being honored at the event include ABCTV news anchor Sandra Bookman and former Northern Manhattan Parks Department Administrator Jennifer Hoppa.
