This hike is part of a year-long series of preserve exploration hikes. Otter Creek is a fantastic preserve for witnessing how the forest has come alive after the long winter and is now flourishing in the warmth. We will journey along a 7.5-mile loop trail around the Otter Creek Nature Preserve. Hiking skills may be tested with every condition a trail can possibly offer. The Otter Creek valley shows its memory of raging floods from prior seasons. Enjoy some great views and an amazing overlook.
Where to Meet: 
Otter Creek Nature Preserve has no parking available. Please meet at the parking area for 
York Furnace Boat Ramp
; we will shuttle everyone to Otter Creek Nature Preserve on the Conservancy mini-bus.
What to Expect: 
This 7.5-mile difficult hike consists of steep trails that are challenging with rocky, root-filled sections interspersed with rolling paths and gravel road. There are no restroom facilities on site. The trail is difficult to strenuous. This hike is recommended for ages 15 and up (participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult).
What to Bring
: 
Plan on carrying a backpack with lunch, water, and all other personal essentials. Dress for the weather as it can change. Sturdy, closed toe shoes are highly recommended. Binoculars are optional. Hiking poles can be very helpful.
Event Leader Bio
: 
Mary Patterson, Interpretive Ranger with the Lancaster Conservancy, is passionate about wildflowers, butterflies, and all the wonderful things that can be discovered outside. She is keenly in tune to the herbaceous plants that keep meadows and forest floors interesting. Mary also leads the local Susquehanna Nature Journal Club and is an active PA Master Naturalist.

Refund Policy:
 If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event.
Cancellation Policy
:
 This event will be held rain or shine, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event, attendees will be emailed, and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. the Conservancy cancels the event, attendees will be notified via email when possible and refunded.
