The scenery outside is nice, but the queue is quite long. If you go there in the summer, you must be prepared to wear sunscreen. As a nearly 600-year-old monument, there are not many shocking places inside, but when you think about how the ancients could build such a building so many years ago, you still admire it. I recommend it.

The Jer&oacute;nimos Monastery is located in the Bel&eacute;m district. This grand white building is a prominent landmark of this port city. Together with the Church of the Knights of Santa Maria connected to it, it is the pinnacle of human medieval architecture. In 1983, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO together with the nearby Bel&eacute;m Tower. The navigator Vasco da Gama is also buried here. Glorious History The Jer&oacute;nimos Monastery was built in 1501. It was presided over by King Manuel I to commemorate Vasco da Gama&#39;s significant voyage. It took nearly 100 years to build. The door wall connecting the church and the monastery is more than 100 meters long, almost occupying the entire street. This majestic momentum also highlights Portugal&#39;s unrivaled maritime dominance in the past.

The entrance ticket allows you to take the lift to the top floor. From there you still have to climb a few flights of stairs to reach the observation deck. The view is nice but it&#39;s not the only place in Lisbon where you can get nice views over the  Tagus estuary. The museum at the basement is worth a visit if you&#39;re interested in how the landscape in Lisbon changed over the years.
