Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-94) was one of the foremost composers of the Renaissance and wrote extensively for the singers of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. The Ulster Consort celebrates his 500th anniversary with a performance of one of his best-loved mass settings, appropriate for the 25 July, on the day when the church celebrates St James the Apostle. Alongside this features other music from this glorious chapel, including that of Gregorio Allegri (1582-1652), whose best-known work – 
Miserere mei
,
 
a setting of Psalm 51 – is normally sung in Lent but provides a moment for reflection at any point in the year.

This tour is perfect for any age group and is a great way to spend a few outs of your day.

We were led by a big-bellied man, who took the middle staircase to the second floor. He asked us to introduce ourselves at the circular handrail in the middle. We were from all over the country, and most of us were foreigners. Then he led us to the parliament hall, which is where the parliamentarians usually hold meetings. There was a microphone at each seat. He then began to talk about the origin and function of this building, and spoke with great vigor. Everyone could sit anywhere, even the speaker&#39;s seat. After the introduction, he led us to visit other halls. The huge banquet hall was covered with thick and beautiful red carpet. I can&#39;t remember which hall was covered with blue carpet.
