It&#39;s worth going. I&#39;ve never seen such a magnificent Medicine Buddha statue before. It&#39;s very special. I happened to catch the main hall being gilded that day. Although I didn&#39;t see it, I was still happy to see it.

It&#39;s well worth a visit. The stone carvings on Feilai Peak are exquisite. Lingyin Temple exudes a sense of solemnity and awe upon entering. We ascended the steps to Huayan Temple, where the architecture and carvings exude exquisite craftsmanship.
I recommend getting there early; tickets open at 6:30 AM, and crowds gather after 8:00 AM.

The overall experience was good. The yacht can accommodate around 30 people, and we had 18 that day, so it was quite spacious. Snacks and tea were provided on board: small biscuits and bagged Longjing tea. Our boat departed around 9:10 AM, and we had to wait until everyone was present before we could depart. Our itinerary was to Meifeng Island and Moonlight Island, departing around 9:10 AM and arriving at the dock around 2:20 PM, a trip that took a little over four hours. A captain and a guide were on board, who provided a brief overview of the origins of Thousand Island Lake and explained the main attractions on each island. Meifeng Island is primarily scenic, offering panoramic views of Thousand Island Lake. Moonlight Island consists of five small islands: Love Garden, Fish Joy Bridge, Department Garden, Dream Garden, and Heart Garden. Activities included feeding the fish, riding the Champion Bridge, enjoying the lake breeze boat, and flying the shuttle. Each island is small, and the trip took about an hour. There&#39;s also a treasure museum on each island that&#39;s worth a look.

Founded in the first year of the Xianhe reign of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (326 AD), it is Hangzhou&#39;s oldest famous temple and is known as the &quot;First Mountain in the Southeast.&quot; During the Southern Song Dynasty, it was ranked third among the &quot;Five Mountains&quot; of Zen Buddhism. Monk Jigong became a monk here. During Emperor Qianlong&#39;s southern tour, he inscribed the plaque &quot;Yunlin Zen Temple,&quot; establishing the dual use of the two names &quot;Lingyin Temple&quot; and &quot;Yunlin Temple.&quot;

✨ Key Highlights

&bull; Feilai Peak Cliff Carvings: The limestone peak in front of Lingyin Temple (approximately 168 meters high) houses over 380 Buddhist statues from the Song and Yuan dynasties, making it the largest grotto complex in southern China. The most famous is the Maitreya Buddha statue (bared-chested and smiling), as well as Tibetan Buddhist-style statues of Tara and the Heavenly Kings. Millennia of weathering still retains detailed detail, requiring an explanation to decipher the &quot;code&quot; of the carvings.

&bull; Lingyin Temple Main Hall:

◦ Main Hall: 33.6 meters high, housing a 24.8-meter-tall statue of Sakyamuni (carved from 24 pieces of camphor wood), flanked by the Eighteen Arhats in various forms;

◦ Jigong Hall: Enshrining a statue of Jigong, recreating his frantic image of &quot;broken shoes and broken hat&quot;;

◦ Huayan Hall: Contains statues of the &quot;Three Sages of the Huayan Sutra,&quot; with Manjusri riding a lion and Samantabhadra riding an elephant, symbolizing wisdom and virtue.

&bull; Yongfu Temple and Fayun Ancient Village: A 10-minute walk from the back gate of Lingyin Temple takes you to the Zen-inspired Yongfu Temple (free). Further afield, you&#39;ll find Fayun Ancient Village (a Ming and Qing dynasty village transformed into a high-end B&amp;B complex), surrounded by cobblestone paths, tea plantations, and bamboo forests, perfect for a relaxing getaway.
