Join the I Am Making Art: Pallet Portrait workshop at Spike Island in Bristol. Inspired by the 'Place Portrait' exhibition, artists Anna Haydock-Wilson, Caitlin Dawkes, and Holly Humphries will lead this engaging workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to create small sculptures in the form of miniature wooden shipping pallets. Through collaboration, attendees will use weaving, painting, stenciling, writing, and three-dimensional collage techniques to bring their pallet sculptures to life. This workshop aims to explore the concept of Spike Island as a neighborhood, reflecting on its industrial history and environmental factors. You will be encouraged to view your pallet sculptures as life rafts, contemplating the importance of various resources. Materials will be provided, but we invite you to bring matchbox-sized items collected from your local area. This workshop is open to all ages and abilities. Discover new techniques and approaches to making art, from drawing and painting to collage, sculpture, and animation. All materials are provided.
