Skies and stars describe the setting where Santídio Pereira was born, in the state of Piauí, where the scarcity of artificial light revealed real and imaginary universes for the artist's work. A céu aberto (In Open Air), a new exhibition at gallery Estação, starting on August 14th, brings two sets of works that differ from each other but connect through ways of thinking and making art. On one hand, woodcuts alluding to skies – which include starry nights, constellations, galaxies, and the cosmos – point to the vision of the infinite, while, on the other, creations in gouaches and woodcuts solidify in the earthly sphere, with figurations of bromeliads settled in the concrete environment.
