When the summer sun shines on the New South Wales coastline seaside trip, the destination is [Avoca Beach] located on the Central Coast, about 90 minutes' drive from Sydney.
This is the favorite surfing and family picnic paradise of the locals. The focus of our trip is to try "Boogie Boarding" for the first time, and then stay in the highly rated resort [The Palms at Avoca] to enjoy a two-day and one-night parent-child summer vacation.
🏖 Boogie Boarding First Experience: Children's First Summer Adventure Lesson
Avoca Beach has soft white sand and moderate wave height, which is a paradise for surfing novices. We took the bodyboards we bought in advance and chose an area with flat waves and gentle sand to practice.
The most reassuring thing is that there are lifeguards patrolling on the beach, and the safe water play area is clearly marked with red and yellow flags. From being cautious at the beginning to mastering the rhythm of surfing later, laughter never stops.
Tips: Remember to prepare a buoyant Boogie Board and wear fitted clothes to prevent sunburn and abrasions. The wind is strong at the beach, so don't forget to prepare a bath towel and a water bottle.
🍉 Beach time and snacks by the sea: a relaxing afternoon rhythm
In addition to playing in the water, Avoca Beach also has a large beach suitable for picnics and rest. We bought iced smoothies, fish and chips, and the children's favorite ice cream at a small cafe near the beach, brought them to the beach, laid out a picnic mat on the spot, and enjoyed them while watching the waves.
🏡 The Palms at Avoca: Family cabin surrounded by forests
【The Palms at Avoca】, just a 5-minute drive from the beach, is a resort surrounded by palm forests and native plants. It has independent wooden houses and warmly designed self-catering rooms. We stayed in a two-bedroom cabin with a kitchen, living room and private balcony. The space is spacious, and the children happily explored every corner as soon as they entered the door.
The resort facilities are very friendly:
• 🏊 Outdoor swimming pool and wading pool
• 🌴 BBQ area and picnic table
• 🎮 Small game room
At night, our family sat on the balcony to watch the stars, listening to the sound of the waves in the distance and the sound of the wind shaking the treetops. This sense of tranquility surrounded by nature makes people completely relaxed.
🌞 Summer ritual from morning to night: explore the rhythm of life in Avoca
In the morning, we went for a walk on the beach and met many locals who were jogging with their dogs or meditating on the beach. After checking out at noon, we strolled in the town of Avoca Beach Village, tasted local handmade coffee and honey soft serve ice cream, and also visited the weekend-only art market to experience the slow-paced atmosphere of the simple town.
