Learn Martial Arts (Portsmouth) - First Class FREE - Beginners at All Classes. Kenshinkai Aikido, a Japanese martial art of self-defence, welcomes beginners of all ages and fitness levels. At Kenshinkai Aikido, beginners are introduced gradually to techniques and a safe way of falling to protect their body. Members are encouraged to develop at their own pace. The classes also teach classical weapons such as Jo (wooden staff), Bokken (wooden sword), and Tanto (wooden knife). Both adults and juniors are taught a range of moves and techniques based on self-defence, which can aid in weight loss, increase fitness and stamina, improve balance, and develop self-confidence. The instructors at Kenshinkai Aikido are highly qualified, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Aikido. They are all DBS checked, first aid qualified, and hold coaching qualifications issued by the British Aikido Board (Governing Body for Aikido in the UK). Don't miss the opportunity to learn to defend yourself by blending with an attacker's power, dispersing their energy, and finally, throwing or controlling the attacker.
