Children aged 4 years and above have the opportunity to participate in a 4-day Learn to Ride course. This course is specifically designed for children between the ages of 4 and 10 who want to learn how to ride a bike with pedals. It is recommended that 4-year-olds attend the Balance Bike course before joining this program.

During the course, children will receive 4 one-hour sessions, which will equip them with the necessary skills and confidence to ride a bike independently. They will learn important techniques such as fitting a helmet, mounting and dismounting the bike, balancing, steering, braking, and pedaling. In the first three sessions, the seats will be lowered and the pedals removed from the bikes, allowing the children to learn with the safety net of being able to touch the ground if needed. This approach helps them feel secure and builds their confidence. In the fourth session, the pedals will be reattached, and the children will learn how to perform the skills while pedaling.

The course will take place on four dates: Sunday 28th January, Sunday 4th February, Sunday 11th February, and Sunday 18th February. Each session will be held between 2:00pm and 3:00pm at St Joseph's College in Ipswich. It is important for attendees to participate in all four sessions.

Parents are encouraged to observe the sessions so they can understand the skills being taught and support their child's practice outside of the sessions.

The cost of the course is £50 per child, plus a small booking fee. Participants should bring their own bikes and helmets if available. However, bikes can be borrowed, and helmets can be provided if needed. It is mandatory for all participants to wear a suitable bike helmet throughout the course. Comfortable clothing, suitable for both indoor and outdoor conditions, is recommended.
