WSET's Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.
This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

Other WSET providers may beat our price by a few dollars, but pouring better quality wines. We are dedicated to pouring better wines and having the best educational venue experience. We may also pour the largest number of wines vs other WSET providers. Our programs at our classroom features free street parking or $15 AT MATEO across the street with great restaurants next to our venue.

You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.
What you’ll learn:
- Develop a deeper understanding of wine regions, grape varieties, and wine styles.
- Identify and describe the main wine categories.
- Understand the principles of wine production, including fermentation, aging, and blending.
- Develop an appreciation for the diversity of wine.
- Understand the basics of wine service and storage.
- How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2
- Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)
- How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties:
Chardonnay
Pinot Grigio/Gris
Sauvignon Blanc
Riesling
Cabernet Sauvignon
Merlot
Pinot Noir
Syrah/Shiraz
- The style and quality of wines:
made from 22 regionally important grape varieties
produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
- How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:
Sparkling wines
Fortified wines
- Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
- Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
- Principles of food and wine pairing
COURSE FORMAT
- 3 day program. This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time:
- 16 hours of in person class delivery time with the Prince of Wine Academy
- 11 hours of personal study and revision
A one-hour closed-book examination comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions.On successful completion of the examination you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.
Fees and Materials:
$150 deposit. Total cost is $950 ($800 balance)

- At least 38 wines tasted during course
Please note that WSET UK (the course accreditation organization) requires that all course students provide their date of birth as part of course registration. Prince of wine academy will send you an email form after checkout for official enrollment. 
All attendees must be at least 21 years of age.

You’ll often find Walid capturing unique moments through the lens of his Leica camera, inspired by how light interacts with wine. As a Southern California resident, he’s known for his creative shots on the beach, where he explores the interplay between wine and natural light.

Our Policy
All tickets are non-refundable. We can adjust your menu for dietary needs up to 72 hours prior without any additional cost. Wines can change without notice, failure or corked wine at the dinner does not result in any type of credit or refund. We open one bottle minimum per paying guest, and can reduce the total number of bottles being opened so that the dinner does not have to cancel should ticket sales not reach the minimum. Fewer bottles equals larger pours - you will get the same quantity of wine and we always open the best wines for the quality of the event. Cancellation due to illness is not allowed, you may however take food to go - or assign your seat to someone else without fee. The perishable nature of our product requires no cancellation, no credit, no refunds for any reason - this is like an airline flight or Dodger game… once it goes, its gone.
