This exhibition brings together two of the 20th century’s greatest painters—Rita Letendre (1928–2021) and Norval Morrisseau (1932–2007). Demonstrating the expressive potential of bold colour and line, these two artists pushed the boundaries of painting.
During a career that spanned over sixty-five years, Letendre used brush, airbrush, palette knife, and her hands to make her work. Vibrating with physical and emotional energy, her paintings, —five of which are on view here, —embody her ongoing quest for connection and understanding.
Morrisseau’s six-panel masterpiece, Man Changing into Thunderbird (1977), illustrates the theme of transformation, an idea central to Anishinaabe philosophy. This painting records the artist’s personal evolution into Miskwaabik Animiiki, or “Copper Thunderbird”, a name he received in a healing ceremony. The name carries connotations of protection, healing, mystery, and power, and Morrisseau used it as his signature. Merging personal narrative with intense colour and elaborate design, Morrisseau called this work, “the ultimate picture for me,” - it is featured here alongside two other works by him from the 1970s.

Niagara Falls is located on the border of the United States and Canada, on the Niagara River, and can be seen from both countries. If you look at the falls from the United States, the other side of the river is the bustling Canadian city of Toronto, with modern buildings such as high-rise buildings and towers. The south bank of the river in the United States is relatively more natural, without high-rise buildings. A Niagara State Park has been built around the falls. It is free and has green trees and carpeted lawns. There are bridges and trestle trails in the park. You can see the wide Niagara River and the rapid water flow. After arriving at the park, parking in the surrounding area is charged. It is recommended to park in the park&#39;s internal parking lot, which charges $10-15 and is closer to the viewing point. Go to the visitor center to get a free map or take a photo of the roadside sign. Because there is more than one waterfall, it is recommended to visit each waterfall viewing point. It is not too far to walk around, and different angles and altitudes have different beauty, all of which are very shocking. If you are not afraid of getting wet, you can go down to the bottom of the waterfall or take a cruise on the Niagara River to see it, where you can see the panoramic view and have an intimate contact with the waterfall.

The glass wall and glass wings on the north side of the main entrance glow under the lights at night, creating a beautiful scenery. The spiral staircase in the museum fully demonstrates Gehry&#39;s design talent.
