Marcel Proust Reading Night: Call for Participants

The Embassy of France is thrilled to announce the Marcel Proust Reading Night, which will take place on November 3rd in Washington, DC. This exclusive event invites Proust enthusiasts to share their favorite passages from his masterpiece, In Search of Lost Time, on the prestigious stage of the Embassy of France.

Are you a devoted reader of Proust? Have you delved into his seven volumes of À la recherche du temps perdu in either French or translation? Do you have a passion for public recitals or acting? If so, we cordially invite you to be a part of this extraordinary event!

Mark your calendars for Friday, November 3rd, from 7-9pm, as participants will captivate the audience by reciting their beloved passages from À la recherche du temps perdu in various languages. In addition, the event will feature delightful musical interludes (more details to come).

Please note that this event is free to attend, and no honorarium will be provided. However, it presents a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the remarkable 20th-century French writer. As part of a series of events dedicated to Marcel Proust, there will be a screening of Raúl Ruiz's film Le temps retrouvé (1999) at the French Embassy on November 1st, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion at the Alliance on November 2nd.

If you wish to participate, kindly submit a four-paragraph passage you would like to read to Natasha Zavadskaia at culture@francedc.org. Please indicate the language in which you plan to recite, whether in French or its translated version. We kindly request that the chosen passage does not exceed four paragraphs.
