Join the first annual Mental Health Matters 5k Run/1 Mile Walk in West Chester at East Goshen Township Park. This event is a great way to engage in self-care and support a worthy cause. As pediatric nurses, the organizers are passionate about promoting mental health and encouraging others to improve their well-being. Running has had a profound positive impact on their lives, so they decided to create this annual event to raise funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The mission of this organization is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. The event is also held in memory of Rebecca's sister, Colleen, who sadly died by suicide in 2012. 

In addition to the race, attendees will have access to local mental health resources and educational materials, further supporting the community. The event will take place on September 10, 2023, with registration starting at 9:15 am at the Ira Hicks Pavilion. Participants can choose between a 5k run or a 1 mile walk, both of which are timed. The walk begins at 10:00 am, followed by the run at 10:15 am. After crossing the finish line, refreshments will be available for all participants.
