7pm to 9pm Joe Mulhall and Music Book Club's Travis Collins will play a set of resistance music, protest songs and rebel sounds from around the world.
A recording of the DJ set will also go up on the pub's Disappearing Dining Club Mixcloud channel.
About the book While the global history of the dictatorships, oppression, racism and state violence over the last century is well known - the role that music played in people's lives during these times is less understood.
This book is a collection of stories and hidden histories about how music provided light in the darkest of times over the past century. How it steeled souls and inspired resistance to oppression. Rebel Sounds will explore freedom songs in the Republic of Ireland, the Soviet Union's oppression behind the Berlin Wall, authoritarian dictatorships in Brazil and Nigeria, institutionalised racism and police violence in America and South Africa, street violence in Britain, ethnic cleansing in the Balkans and musical resistance in war-torn Ukraine.
This is a social history of the twentieth century but one that takes in the human impulse to create, share and enjoy the one thing that connects cultures and spans generations: music. Joe Mulhall Joe has written books on British Fascism and the Global Far Right. Joe is director of research at the anti-fascism organisation Hope Not Hate and writes for The Guardian.
Travis Collins DJ and journalist Travis Collins set up the Music Book Club as a Facebook group in January 2021. The international community is a growing network of music book enthusiasts, writers, publishers, and respected music journalists.

My first time visiting this tower ,all the staff was extremely friendly and helpful .We really enjoyed visiting this beautiful piece of history and we adore york. Was so happy to know it is english heritage so everytime we go somewhere we try and make use out of our membership.Was a wonderful structure been made for the stairs nice and strong. We enjoyed the roof top being able to have a clear 360 view was magnificent well worth all the climbing up both stairs .

It takes about five minutes to walk from York Station to platform 11, cross the overpass, and there is a sign, which is easy to see. There were not many people, so I went in without an appointment. There were many local elderly people and children, but they watched quietly.
The history of trains is clear at a glance, and I learned a lot. Half of the confidence of European railways comes from Britain. The trains and train technology more than 150 years ago are really admirable.
