Join flutist Mary Matthews for an evening of musical storytelling as she presents Flutelore.
Each work for solo flute, flute and electronics, or flute and piano is inspired by fairytale, folklore, and mythology. From the meditative to the adventurous, the program will include low flutes, flute beatboxing, electroacoustic works and more.A dynamic and versatile performer, Mary Matthews is flute professor at Florida State University’s College of Music. She enjoys an active career as an international soloist, chamber musician, orchestral flutist, session musician, author, and pedagogue, and she has performed on four continents in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Severance Hall, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Fundação Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina, Festival Goethe Institut Música Nueva, and Cité Internationale des Arts.
An active studio musician and recording artist, Mary can be heard on soundtracks for film, TV, and video games on Netflix, HBO, and Disney. Co-author of the Beatboxing & Beyond method books, she is known for her command of extended techniques and adventurous programming.

Obviously a must visit if you&#39;re in the city. This is the older part of the city and its historical center. It features old colonial houses, albeit many are being restored, so there is a slight gentrification aspect to the district. Nevertheless, walking through the streets lined with pastel colored houses is gorgeous. You could easily spend a morning or afternoon strolling through the districts various streets, while resting in the many open spaces when you&#39;re tired. Also a nice place to grab a bit to eat!

Part of the old town, this is a beautiful place to wander around and learn a little about the history of the area. There are usually guides who share some essential information (for a fee of course) but the scenery is stunning. You can see miles around the area with impressive scenery.

I was completely new to this museum. I only had one regret: I didn&#39;t rent a $5 English radio. The exhibits were all in Spanish and I could only sift through the essentials.

Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria the Ancient

There happened to be a free choir performance on the day we visited the cathedral. The acoustics were wonderful. Very soulful and charming. And there was that big moving indicator hanging high up in the dome pointing to a white page on the floor. This showed that earthquake movement was visible. The architecture and icons were beautiful. It was easy to feel the peace here. It&#39;s a beautiful building.

Old Panama

Don&#39;t miss this historic adventure. Learn about the origins of Panama City, from the Spanish occupation of the indigenous Tibetans, the loss of Captain Morgan and the rebuilding by the Spanish. Wonderful ruins and informative museum. Bring a good camera
