Performance + Talk: When the Spirits Sing... an Offering is an engaging event that encourages attendees to bring forth their positive thoughts for one another and our shared future. This special occasion will feature artist Adama Delphine Fawundu, who will activate and reflect upon her year-long exhibition, Adama Delphine Fawundu: In the Spirit of Àṣẹ. Accompanied by the talented composer and violinist Che Buford and marimbist Steph Davis, Fawundu will create an immersive environment that stimulates the imagination and facilitates the manifestation of positive energies through improvisational sounds and movements. The spirited performance will serve as an offering, inviting audiences to contribute their own positive thoughts for the collective futures of all attendees. After the performance, Henone Girma, the Museum's Associate Curator, Arts of Global Africa, will lead a thought-provoking conversation with Fawundu, esteemed photographer and adjunct professor at Columbia University, C. Daniel Dawson, and accomplished art historian Dr. Henry J. Drewal, Emeritus Professor in African Art at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. This enriching event, Performance + Talk: When the Spirits Sing... an Offering, will take place on November 2, 2023, at The Newark Museum of Art in Newark, NJ. This is a little-known museum with a very rich collection. Newark is not the capital of New Jersey, and many people have a mistake. It was not safe here before, so I usually don&#39;t want to go to Newark. But the collection inside is really dazzling and often changed, and it can be imagined that quantity and quality coexist.
