Join Jan for a guided exploration of three acclaimed poets: Mary Oliver, Maya Angelou and Eavan Boland.
Mary Oliver’s work was inspired by a sense of wonder at nature’s beauty and healing power. Maya Angelou, also an American, created powerful speakers who expose injustice and hypocrisy. The Irish poet, Eavan Boland, explored the role of women and her Irish homeland in finely wrought poetry.
All three poets came from very different backgrounds and adopted very different styles for their work. However, as well as discussing their individual themes and approaches to poetry, we may be able to find common ground between them and ways in which they still speak to us as strongly as ever in today's often troubled world. Please note that due to the historical nature of the building, there is a flight of stairs up to the distillery workshop space. Ticket price includes tea or coffee and cake!
