Pride in Cycling - is it possible?Join Maartje Hensen in conversation with Sebastien Sutherland of Queer Wheels Cycle Club at Rapha Amsterdam to celebrate Pride!During this evening Maartje will discuss with Sebastien their story of being an LGBTQ+ cyclist, their club Queer Wheels (as featured on NPO), and what being an openly queer person in cycling looks like today. They will jointly explore the topics of identity, freedom of expression and allyship within cycling.
Sebastien will additionally discuss their plans ahead of the 2025 Pedal for Pride event, and what more can be done for cycling to be a welcoming place for all. Maartje (they/them) is an Amsterdam-based queer traveler, photographer, content creator , soon-to-be coach. They are the author of 'The Pride Atlas' , known for their captivating storytelling. Sebastien (he/they) is a cyclist, sports inclusion consultant and founder of the only active LGBTQIA+ cycling collection in the Benelux, Queer wheels. They are carving out a world where everyone has access to cycling and feels welcome in the sport. After the event there will be drinks, refershments and a chance to mingle and celebrate pride! Had amazing time knowing the house and the writings. Just not encouraging elderly people with limited mobility to come due to climbing stairs is not easy.
