This extraordinary event will showcase the latest creations from talented Black artists who have been invited to explore innovative ways of expressing their legacy and heritage of Houston Freedmen’s Town. THIS WAY: A Houston Group Show is set to captivate audiences with its diverse selection of artwork that has propelled Houston's Black art community forward since 2020. By fostering connections between Black millennials, Gen Z artists, and audiences, this exhibition forges a powerful bond that transcends generations. Each artist participating in THIS WAY: A Houston Group Show brings their unique perspective to the table, shedding light on the rich history and contemporary realities of the historic Houston Freedmen’s Town. Imhotep Blot, Amaechina Blot, and Studio KER, led by Michael Bennett, are just a few of the talented artists whose work will be featured. This groundbreaking show is curated by Mich Stevenson, the HFTC x CAMH Project Manager, representing the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston and Houston Freedmen’s Town Conservancy. Admission to this event is free, but we encourage you to RSVP to secure your spot. The exhibition will take place at CAMH’s Nina and Michael Zilkha Gallery, conveniently located on the lower level of the Museum.
