On January 29, 2024, the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the Jewish Community in Berlin, will be hosting an event called "Rettung in letzter Minute. Lesung mit musikalischer Begleitung" (Rescue at the Last Minute. Reading with Musical Accompaniment) to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of National Socialism. Curated by Giulio Busi and Silvana Greco, professors at the Free University of Berlin, the event will focus on the stories of Italian Jews during the Holocaust who narrowly escaped arrest and deportation between the armistice of 1943 and the end of World War II. The goal is to provide a vivid journey through individual cases, shedding light on general persecution practices and moments of redemption and solidarity. Renowned actors Stella Maria Adorf and Georg Stephan will be delivering the readings, accompanied by specially composed music by Luca Lombardi, a highly regarded composer and member of the Berlin Academy of Arts and the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. The event will take place at the Jüdisches Gemeindehaus in Berlin, located at Fasanenstraße 79-80, 10623 Berlin. Tickets for the event will go on sale starting at 00:00 on January 2, 2024.
