The Acropolis of Athens is located on a limestone hill 150 meters above sea level in the southwest of Athens. It was built in the 5th century BC and is a holy place to commemorate the victory of the Greco-Persian War and to worship Athena, the patron saint of Athens. The main building, the Parthenon, is backed by the maze-like residential buildings of Plaka, Athens, and the cliff facing the sea stands steeply, towering in the blue sea and blue sky. In addition to the Parthenon, the Acropolis of Athens also has the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Victory, the Erechtheion, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and other buildings. The chief architect was Phidias, who was famous at the time. Six hundred years later, the ancient Roman historian Plutarch once commented on the Acropolis: &quot;The building stands tall, magnificent and outstanding, with beautiful outlines, unparalleled.&quot; The 19th-century French writer Flaubert called the Acropolis &quot;the most brilliant source of history and art.&quot;

The biggest feature of the Acropolis Museum is her spatial design, which is equivalent to making the Acropolis as a whole a space easy. Standing in front of the huge glass curtain, watching the Acropolis ruins, it is like a space conversion. The sculpture art of ancient Greece is indeed inextricably added. My favorite is the maiden column of the Poseidon Temple; it is said that everyone has been visiting the Acropolis Museum for a long time before a sculpture. It is a pity that my stay is too short. I suggest you leave more time for the Acropolis Museum for at least half a day.

However, the Caryatids in the Acropolis are not authentic. The authentic ones are in the nearby Acropolis Museum and... the British Museum

Like most Greek temples, this temple was also used as a treasury.
1. It was built in 447 BC to replace the old Parthenon (destroyed by the Persians in 480 BC).
2. For a while, it was the treasury of the Delian League (which later evolved into the Athenian Empire).
3. In the 6th century AD, the Parthenon was converted into a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary (the original Athena was also a virgin).
4. In the early 1460s, after being conquered by the Ottoman Turks, it was used as a mosque.
5. It was used as a gunpowder magazine by the Turkish army in 1687 and was unfortunately severely damaged in an explosion.
6. By 1800, only half of the Parthenon statues survived. After obtaining approval from the Ottoman government, British Ambassador Sir Elgin began to transport half of the surviving statues back to Britain at his own expense starting in 1801, and they began to be exhibited in the British Museum in 1817.

The Athens Archaeological Museum is the largest museum in Greece, with a collection of nearly 20,000 pieces, covering prehistoric to late ancient artifacts, and is the epitome of ancient Greek civilization. It is worth seeing, but unfortunately there is no Chinese explanation... Seeing favorite collections can only understand history with translation software...
