Beloved Peterborough band Babe Chorus is proud to share the songs off of their newest recording project “Sarah VDB - Way Back Home EP” in a special EP release show at the Theatre on King on July 12.
Through four original songs written by one of the band’s founding members, Sarah VDB, Way Back Home EP imperfectly weaves community, loss, grief, belonging, Toronto, Peterborough, St. John’s, Queens, trail mix, storm chips, train travel, a pandemic, local ghosts, luggage stores, lots of learning, and always, love. This live-off-the-floor recording — produced by Sarah herself under the mentorship of the legendary Jill Staveley (with thanks to EC3 funding!) and expertly audio engineered by Jimmy Bowskill — is a vivid snapshot of the band playing gorgeous music together and having a great time while doing it. It’s already receiving early praise from Peterborough music community heavyweights.
The EP release show promises vibrant and honest folk-storytelling, thoughtful instrumentation, and emotive singing elevated by the beautifully organic harmonies for which Babe Chorus is known. Sarah and her bandmates will welcome audience members into the stories of each song, and into the warm, playful, and lively atmosphere Babe Chorus creates each time they share a stage together. You won’t want to miss this evening of music from a celebrated and wildly creative local phenomenon! Bonus: they’re making everyone snacks!
Doors will open at 7:30. The show will begin at 8pm with a short solo Sarah VDB set, followed by a full band set of the EP songs and other originals at 8:30. Wrapping by 10pm. 
Attendees are invited to join Babe Chorus for an after party show at Jethro’s Bar, where they will play some of their favourite covers!
